Heredity and family history can make a person prone to certain conditions. For example high cholesterol and Heart disease are likely to run in families. The awareness of family medical history can be a benefit when an individual actively works to avoid the onset of the conditions.

Assuming your talking about genetics here, it could give you predispositions to certain diseases, cancers etc. Some people have a predisposition to obesity due to their hereditary genetics or some people might have a predisposition for colon cancer due to hereditary genetics as well. It could also be positive for example, you might be more immune to bacterial infections, weight gain etc.
Heredity can be good an bad. It affects your health because your parnts could of had a bad disese and since their parents had it then its a chance that you will get that disese. And that's how it will affect your health.

Also if your black........your parents were black
A person's heredity can greatly influence their health because your heredity determines what types of diseases you are prone to. For example, if many people in your family had a specfic disease or condition, then you, being related to them would also be more at risk for that specific condition/disease. Though, don't worry, by being healthy you can strongly decrease your chances. Also, genes can sometimes affect your weight and blood pressure.
Heredity influences health by how people think about themselves compared to others.
Heredity don't play part in general health. But the disease which are affected by off-springs from parents are mostly chronic diseases which lasts for longer time.
