No! There are about 5 ml per teaspoon (4.929 ml / teaspoon). A teaspoon is defined as 1/6 of an ounce (three teaspoons per tablespoon, two tablespoons per ounce). A volume of .625 ml would be 1/8 of a teaspoon.

This is according to the Imperial system of measure (from Wikipedia: "Imperial system is a collection of units, first defined in the British Weights and Measures Act of 1824".) Imperialists are a very small subset of those using the Imperial system of measure.

There isn't really a standard teaspoon size, it depends how big the spoons you drink tea with are. However, teaspoons do *tend* to be a certain size, so as a unit of measurement it isn't useless, but still pretty inferior to the metric system.

.625 mL might sound pretty close, which is as good as your going to get when comparing a precise volume like ".625 mL" to a vague volume like "just enough to fill a teaspoon". Hell, recipes will often refer to "rounded" "flat" "generous" or "sparing" teaspoons of an ingredient. Now I'll be the first to admit this is closer to the cooking-related idea of certain elements of food preparation being flexible "according to taste," but a teaspoon still isn't a precise unit of measurement, by any means. (Certain United States cooking schools and/or a government agency in charge of "imperialist" measurements in the US might be able to give you a more exact answer.

No. 1.4 is a decimal. The number to the left of the decimal point is the whole number, meaning one. If there were a zero on the right side of the decimal point, then it would be 1 teaspoon.

However, there is a 4 there. which is equal to 4/10. That is more than a whole teaspoon
