We are products of our environment. So our general emotional state or how we approach situations is greatly affected by what situations we are in.

Generally, an extended period of good fortune, and doing things we want to do, will bring about a less grumpy attitude towards life.

So men may get grumpy as they age. It could be because of the constant labor of paying bills, the stress of repressed passions, difficult children, etc.

As long as there is a good balance between the things we have to do, which we don't want to do, and the things we want to and feel a need to do, grumpiness should not be a problem.
