Barry never married. He was tackling the issue of his sexuality at an early age and was bisexual. We know from director interviews that this was something he was dealing with during the 1970's, and we know that he had a boyfriend at the time of his death in 1997. He wasn't open about the subject and skirted the issue when being interviewed by teen magazines during his heyday in the early 1970's stating that he wasn't ready to commit to marriage and that he didn't have time for dating, but liked pretty, vivacious girls who had similar interests to him.
