Human psychoneuroactive meds are dangerous for dogs because we don't always exactly know how or why they work on humans, and resultantly have no clue with dogs. A dog's neurological picture is deeply different from mans'. Also, I don't think dogs experience depression the way humans do. Were I you, I'd go after the symptoms at this point, and hold off diagnosing depression until all physical pathologies are ruled out.
