Toxic Mold and Illness It is important to understand that the term "toxic mould" is a recent creation of the news media - there is no such thing as "toxic mould" per se, and similarly, there is no significance imparted to "black moulds." Not only are these descriptors created by recent news media, but scientifically there is not even a clear classification for "mould" since any fungus exhibiting filamentous (hairy) extensions is called a "mould." Therefore, an organism may be a "mould" at certain points in its life cycle, and not a mould at others. Indeed, it is possible for a single organism to be a mould, a yeast, and just a fungi, at different times in its life depending on its morphological state. Black moulds, are no more dangerous than any other color of moulds.

Virtually all of the current scare about moulds is just media hype devoid of any actual science, and is mostly propagated by unscrupulous consultants, "certified mould inspectors" and other charlatans who make their money by unnecessarily frightening people.. You can learn more about "toxic mould" at http://www.forensic-applications.com/moulds/sok.html Additional post: Some genera and related species of fungal mold of the phylum Deuteromycota are clearly allergenic, and infectious to certain populations dependent on genetics, status of host immunity, exposure to specific fungal mold species and dosage.
