I'm a physician. Aside from the fact that urine will have an unpleasant flavor, it is sterile and harmless. Contrary to what a few people think, there is nothing healthy about drinking urine, since it is composed of waste products your body is trying to get rid of. A person without any access to water could keep himself hydrated a bit longer by drinking his urine, but over several days the body would make less and less of it, since the amount of water in the urine is only the amount needed to flush waste products from the body, plus any extra water the body doesn't need. Each time urine is drunk the body has that much more waste products to eliminate, and if no other liquid is drunk, the body will become more and more dehydrated, and the amount of water in the urine will get smaller and smaller until kidney failure sets in.

If it is fresh, not much. - Fresh urine is sterile. If it is just a little bit old (minutes), then bacteria will start to grow and could make you sick.

I recommend cranberry/raspberry juice or tapwater if you are thirsty.

Contrary to what a few people think, there is nothing healthy about drinking urine, since it is composed of waste products your body is trying to get rid of. So no, it is not normal to drink urine; your body is trying to get rid of it for a reason. A person without any access to water could keep himself hydrated a bit longer by drinking his urine, but over several days the body would make less and less of it, since the amount of water in the urine is only the amount needed to flush waste products from the body, plus any extra water the body doesn't need. Not much. Normal urine is sterile. In fact, this practice is used as a survival technique in order to stave off dehydration. It can work for a while, but fresh sources of water are needed, eventually.

The urea in urine (yours or somebody else's) is poisonous so if you drink enough urine you will harm yourself. It may make you die and if you drink it, spit it out FAST.

Urine is the toxic waste that the human body needs to get rid of. High concentrations can cause damage to organs due to bacteria and other toxins that it contains.

It is safe for you to drink your own pee, as long as it is in small doses and there are no toxins, such as medicine, in the urine.

When you pee, you are getting rid of all the things your body doesn't need/want your kidneys filtered out. When you drink your pee, you are forcing your kidneys to work twice as hard to re-filter your pee. By drinking it enough, you might die of kidney failure.
