Can Lamictal or depakote cause false positive screening for opiates?
I am not sure about it testing positive for opiates; however, Lamictal will show a positive reading on a PCP test. Until recently it was believed to be otherwise. I will provide the documented information and studies in a follow-up post.
yes dlpa breaks down enzymes which can trigger a false positive for opiates or oxycodone
No. PCP is not in Lamictal (or any other medication in its class, for that matter). However, Lamictal can cause a false positive for PCP in a urine test. You really must disclose Lamictal when taking a urine test (such as pre-employment screening). According to HIPPA, the lab is not supposed to notify the company of any legitimate meds you are taking, so you should be able to keep your medical condition private.
no, but it will cause a positive result for opiates (heroin).
No
yes
yes!
no, they have no opiates in them
Yes Naltrexone has been known to test positive for opiates in almost all at-home drug screens. I was baffled when I tested my daughter, until I called her doctor and confirmed that Naltrexone can indeed cause a false-positive.
No, warfarin is not an opiate and it is not one of the compounds that is known to cause false positive results in immunoassay type drug tests.
both contain opiates they just aren't a controled substance cause the amount is small
It can cause a false positive for PCP or Opiates depending on the quality of the test.
i have herd that eating poppy seeds that are found in pastry cakes can cause a false positive test for meth. poppy seeds cause a positive for marijuana - not meth. Actually you are both very wrong. Poppy seeds can cause a false positive for opiates(heroin, morphine, etc). Opiates are made from the poppy plant. Wow who ever said these top two are STUPID. I am speachless.
