A raised temperature in children is more dangerous than for adults, primarily because it can spike rather quickly. Generally, monitor temps of 100°F and higher. If you notice it climbing even after admistering an analgesic, contact your physician, or take him to a clinic or ER. If the child's fever is 102°F or higher, try blotting with a cool, wet towel, or placing the child in a cool (not cold) bath (start with warm water and add cool to it so as not to shock the child's system)--this is what will be done at an ER--and call a physician or the ER for immediate advice. Even a low grade temp over several days can be dangerous to children and should be treated by a physician.

Temperature of 39 degree C. and above should be taken seriously. However please remember that the degree of temperature is not the only criterion. The general condition of the baby and associated symptoms need to be taken into consideration.
if he has flu like symptoms try not to give anything expect a cool bath, exept if the temp gets to be 103 or above, this give a chance for the child to fight off the flu naturally and get out what they need to get out. If it keeps raising then give tylonal or motrin. keep an eye on the temp and if it doesnt seem to go down and starts going above 103 then it wont hurt to go to the hospital.
ANY abnormal temperature should be investigated ! Your doctor would prefer to see a child and find nothing wrong - than be called out to the child's home and end up rushing the patient to hospital !
If you are at all worried get your child there without delay better to be safe than sorry.
You can die from a temp as high as 108o F. Anything immediately below this would seem like good cause to go to the hospital.
