The advantages of using alternative medicines are that there are not side effects (usually). Alternative medicine can heal the body completely. But this takes time. Alternative medicine looks at the person, not just symptoms and main complaints.

A patient may have health issues that took decades to create, it takes time to reverse those issues. Also, alternative medicine puts the responsibility of health on the shoulders of the patient. Meaning the patient may have to stop certain toxic behaviors, change their diet or incorporate exercise into their life. It is much easier for patients to take a medication and abuse the health care system then to take responsibility and change their predicament.

So advantages are: it works, the patient becomes healthier in mind and body and there are no or little side effects. Also, in comparison- even with insurance, alternative medicines are cheaper in the long run. If you go towards alternative medicine, usually, you will only need to see one person for all your ailments.

Disadvantages are: the patient has to work with a practitioner to become healthier, it takes time, a patient has to change their life and behaviors and it cannot address a persons emergency health needs.
