Tip 1: Brush in circles. If you brush in a straight motion, your gums will take a beating and develop a type of 'Christmas tree' pattern, thus causing unnecessary discomfort.
Tip 2: Brush teeth for two minutes or more to get the most effective cleaning.
Tip 3: Brush at least two times a day to keep cavities at a minimum.
Tip 4: Purchase a new toothbrush every six months, or every time the bristles of the brush begin to space apart and get scraggly.
Tip 5: Remember that it's not always about the teeth, one must take care of the gums as well. This means flossing regularly to keep gums healthy and plaque away from the crevasses between the teeth.
they are in a way better over the manual toothbrushes, in that they, don't abrade your tooth when excess pressure is applied, the tips remain stationary when more pressure is applied, hence less damage to your teeth. how ever its recommended that with a mechanical tooth brush, 5 minutes of brushing is required, whereas its 2 minutes in case of manual brushing.
No offense to any OCD people out there, but teeth brushing should take 5 minutes.
