This is probably the question that I can't answer. I spend a whole bunch of time reading about him and his inventions. Now where Nikola stated why he became a scientist. I could give you my opinion about that.
Nikola Tesla had a elevated IQ. In his mind, he could see where the rest had failed in physics and electricity related fields. He saw electrical engines throwing sparks to the sides when they were put to work. He knew that was not right. A teacher got mad with him because he deviced in his head a way to get rid of the sparks.
He had to correct these problems on his own, which he did.
After Tesla, some of his nephews became scientist s like him.
Nikola was the fourth of five children, having one older brother and three sisters, Milka, Angelina and Marica. Dane, who was killed in a horse-riding accident when Nikola was five, made Nikola to become the older brother of the Tesla's silibins.
Part visionary, part mad scientist, and absolute genius, Tesla should be as famous as Edison - but he's been largely forgotten. Dr. Nikola Tesla was one of the most brilliant inventors of history and was of an unusual intellectual vision. He is affectionately refered to as the "Father of Free Energy". When he broke up with Edison, that was a turning point for Nikola Tesla.
Nikola Tesla's father's name was Milutan and his mother's name was Djuka.

No, he was a good scientist.

The history surrounding the life of Nikola Tesla, doesn't tell us about the life of the siblings and family of the scientist but no more with the relation of Tesla.

Nikola Tesla's mother, Georgina Tesla, passed away in 1892. Nikola was deeply affected by her death and it had a lasting impact on him throughout his life.

I would believe he would prefer to be called a scientist, inventor, and mentor.
Nikola Tesla was inspired by his mother who was an inventor and encouraged his interest in science and mathematics. Additionally, he was influenced by his studies in physics and engineering at the Technical University in Graz and later at the University of Prague. Tesla's fascination with electricity and magnetism led him to pursue a career as a scientist.
On 30 July 1891, Nikola Tesla became a naturalized citizen of the United States.
Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla was born in the village of Smiljan, in Croatia. (At the time it was part of ther Austrian Empire).
