In 1964 Wayne was diagnosed with lung cancer and had all of one lung and part of the other removed. In the 1970's he had a heart valve replacement and shortly before his death from stomach cancer he had at least two surgeries.
Well he died of complications caused by stomach cancer 11 years after having been diagnosed with lung cancer and having a lung removed so I would say yes. Of course he was 72 when he died so given all that I would say he probably enjoyed pretty good health overall.
