In the original Japanese episode 26/English dub episode 22, Mamoru [Darien] awakens from a dream where he is Tuxedo Mask. He wonders if he is Tuxedo Mask, and gets his answer later in the episode, after he acquires the Orange Rainbow Crystal.
After the events of the first season, Mamoru loses his memory of being Prince Endymion or Tuxedo Mask. However, he regains his memories, including those of the identity of Sailor Moon, in Japanese episode 59/English dub episode 53. From that point forward, he only appears as Tuxedo Mask or Prince Endymion, never again as Moonlight Knight.

Who is Tuxedo Mask?
Tuxedo Mask is the hero form of Mamoru Chiba (Darien Shields in the English dub/translation of the series). He is the modern form of Prince Endymion, and the previous identity of King Endymion from Crystal Tokyo. He is the Guardian of Earth, the equivalent to Earth's "Sailor Senshi," and is the counterpart to Sailor Moon (along with being her lover and future husband).
