DiCaprio's career began with his appearing in several commercials and educational films. He got his break on television in 1990 when he was cast in the short-lived series based on the movie Parenthood. In 1990 he was 16 years at age.

In 1991 Leonardo then appeared (uncredited) in one episode of "Roseanne" as Darlene's class mate. He also played "Josh" that same year in the movie "Critters 3".

In 1991 - 1992 Leonardo then played Luke Brower in the series Growing Pains.

In 1992 he starred as "Guy" in the movie "Poison Ivy" starring Drew Barrymore & Sara Gilbert.

It was in 1993 that Leonardo got his "Big Break" playing Arnie Grape in the movie "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" playing opposite of Johnny Depp

he has been acting since 1990, age 15 (in films) but i think he was doing adverts on TV before that. his first TV program was parenthood.
