It's rumored that he had size 7 feet...most base this conclusion on the fact that at Mann's Theaters his boots left imprints that were very small. Others claim he wore a size 11. Wayne was nearly 6'4" tall and to suggest he had size 7 feet would be hard to believe...although anything is possible. I'm 6'3" and have size 9 1/2....so 2 1/2 sizes smaller might not be too far away from the truth.
Lauren Bacall once said in an interview that Wayne had small feet.Thats why he had that peculiar walk, according to Bacall.
I tend to agree with the size 7 shoe size. My wife and I also visited Mann's Theaters in L.A. Ca. and we were both surprised to see the name "John Wayne" next to a pair of narrow and small boot imprints. I am a short man of 5'7" and I wear a size 8 1/2 shoe. I placed my foot over Wayne's boot imprint and the entire boot imprint was covered (couldn't be seen) I then placed my foot along side the imprint and my 8 1/2 foot made his boot imprint look like a small boy's boot. I'm convinced that Hollywood can make these actors look any way they want us to "BELIEVE" them to be. Hollywood created this tough big cowboy image of Mr. Wayne (I'm almost sure he was a tall man) but It appears that Mr. Wayne had very small feet for his height.....

I heave heard two conflicting accounts. Some say that he wore a size 11. Another that he wore a size 7. I traveled to Hollyswood and found that the imprints of his boots in the concrete in front of Mann's Theater were much smaller than my own Size 9 feet, so you can either believe that he had size 7 feet or size 11 feet crammed into boots that were 4 sized too small.
John Wayne was probably wearing riding boots. They have heel set almost in the middle of the foot I used to have a pair. It does make walking different.
