It is an obvious alternate spelling of the better known donkey and mule sound-track Hee-Haw, and is almost a homonym. For some reasons A.A. Milne, who was a professional English writer, seemed to use misspellings as a comedy device more than any other writer. There is nothing funny about Rabbit Howse, Tigger, or Hunny, and EEyore falls into this language (Camp Runamuck). One might excuse slang in stuff angled at young adults such as Li"l Abner, but not on kiddy fare. I never could see how Winnie the pooh got away with this bad English usage.

Eeyore is in the original Winnie the pooh books, so it was A.A.Milne (Alan Alexander Milne) who created Eeyore.
