I think that the theme in Pinocchio is to keep dreaming and keep believing because "anything can happen if you just believe. Just think, it is significant, especially to children that Jimeny Cricket is the narrator because it shows that even the smallest of things can have their dreams come true. Meaning that all little children can have their own dream.

Another theme would be good and bad. Every time Pinocchio lies it become harder and harder to hide for his nose gets larger each time. Also towards the beginning, he is told that he will become a real boy if he behaves properly, inspiring young children to act and behave properly.

Some explanation for a children's fairy tale!

yeah i think the symbolism in pinocchio is sick and twisted. First of all he was an evil puppet, he didnt listen to his father. When Pinocchio goes to school he is kidnapped by strangers (the fox is an example of strangers and what happens to kids when they are left alone and dont listen to adults) he is then FORCED to work at the puppet show (which i feel may symbolize prostitution, he is worked against his will and making money for the owner of the show. After that, he goes to 'Pleasure Island' where its only boys ( I feel this may symbolize pinocchios innocence being correupted, i also feel like this could be a sexuality struggle, All boys, that turn into donkeys when their innocence is stolen) inside the whale is his internal struggle dealing with all his decisions hitting rock bottom. and then he gets back home... terrible story.
