They were alone the last night because their parents were selling bread and coffee in Alimatok. Then while going home,she smelled something burning. she came into the clearing and saw her house. It had burned to the ground.

Rona's father , Rolando returning home towards morning accepted his daughter's death and offered to dig a grave near their house.

As their bring Rona in hospital. the doctors examined Rona and found her to have suffered from third-degree burns over head and back and her left ear was almost gone. Nenita was so very thankful that the doctor still attended to her daughter despite even. she have no money to give with.

The doctor was impressed by Rona's attitude despite her condition. she was cheerful although she was suffering from terrible pain. the doctor recommended that Rona be brought to Bacolod in hospital equipped with modern equipment, her neck has shortened as a result of the scars brought about by the burns and her head and shoulder muscles pulled her head into a hunched position

the incident oh how little Rona courageously saved her siblings which caused to burned was broadcast over a local radio station.
