It has to do with the transmission mission. The 'S' stands for standard, and the 'W' stands for winter. When you are in 'S' mode, the transmission starts out in 1st gear normally, but when you select 'W' mode, the transmission will start out in 2nd gear, to help reduce wheel slip on slippery surfaces.

W - Winter driving / slows down the RPM's S - Sport driving / widens the shift pattern and holds the gear longer before shifting
'W' is for Winter and 'S' is for Standard. W starts with the second gear and it will avoid tire spins during winter. Use 'S' for normal condition
To open a convertible top for a Mercedes CLK 430 manually, open the trunk. There is a switch located in the trunk if the driver's switch fails. The switch is located in the far reaches of the trunk next to where the top and the trunk meet.
Try putting gas in it : ) or if it was involved in a collision the fuel cut off switch may be set. also the electronic ignition switch is known for issues.
Did you ever get this sorted, mine is stuck in S mode and for the sake of the petrol consumption I would love to get it onto W.
Immediately passed the Park position. Neutral separates the Reverse gear and the Drive gears.
The W button will be on the center consul near the gear selector, it is used for wet or winter weather as it changes the shift patterns for smoother starts and shifts for increased traction. (note): W button is on a toggle switch with an S so in fact it is a W/S button.

No. The W and S on the rocker switch on the center console next to the shifter stands for Summer/Winter. It's just a sensitivity setting for the ASR/automatic traction control/slip control.
On my W vauxhall corsa the dimmer switch is just under headlight switch (small scroll horizontal switch-like the scroll button on a mouse)
It is on the side panel by the headlight switch. The panel should have a pry slot for a flat screwdriver head. Fuse #2 i believe, bottom leftmost fuse in that box.
Good question! The W/S switch stands for Winter/Summer Some people actually use this switch and some people have no idea about it. All it does is: In the W mode the transmission starts out in 2nd gear And in S mode it starts out in 1st gear. Most people will use the W mode in winter to help with tire slip on snow or icy conditions, or older people will use the W mode for a smoother take-off from a stop and lighter shifts. Hope that helps.
