What happens after episode 51 in fullmetal alchemist?

Because they saw the Gate of Truth and survived, Edward and Alphonse Elric, Isumi Curtis, and Van Hohenheim are used as sacrifices by Father, the little one in the flask, Homunculus, and the creator of all the subsequent homunculi, to create a Philosophers Stone out of the 50 million Amestrian souls. Roy Mustang was made the 5th sacrifice after being forced to perform human transmutation. His eyesight is taken from him as a toll for seeing the gate. Father accomplishes his goal and obtains immortality and youth. However, Hohenheim anticipated this and used the souls of the people of Xerxes inside of him to take back all the souls of the Amestrians and send them to their original bodies. This weakens Father so he travels to the surface to try to make more Philosopher's Stones out of the souls that are there.

Isumi, Hohenheim, Mustang, Alphonse and the other military forces follow and attempt to stop him while Edward fights Selim, or the first born homunculus Pride who wants Ed's body as his new shell. Edward beats him by destroying his current body converting him back into a fetus-like person using alchemy. They venture to the surface to fight Father. Father is eventually weakened by all the hits he receives and lets out a last resort blast of energy which sends everyone flying. Edward's automail arm gets destroyed and his other arm is pinned by a large nail sticking out of a large cement block from the excess debris. Father sees him and slowly walks toward him constantly repeating that he wants his soul for the Philosopher's Stone.

Alphonse, seeing his brother helpless and about to die asks May Chang, a user of Xingese alkahestry, to make a transmutation circle allowing him to go back to the Gate of Truth and sacrifice his soul in order to get Edward's human arm back. He succeeds and Edward's real arm merges onto his body once again. Extremely furious and saddened by his brother's sacrifice, Edward uses his good arm to rip out the nail from his other arm and lets out his vengeance on Father in a flurry of alchemic throws and punches while being cheered upon by everyone watching.

The homunculus Greed, who is inside Lin Yao's body at the time, is destroyed by Father after he attempts to stab him in the face which enables Lin Yao to regain control over his body but is saddened by the death of his counterpart. Father absorbs Greed's shield power and Edward, using this as an advantage throws one last punch that goes through Father's abdomen and the outer shell rips open, letting out all the stolen souls inside of him thus making him trapped inside the Gate of Truth in his original form.

Edward sees Alphonse's old, beaten armor and tries to think of a way to bring him back. His father offers himself as a sacrifice but Edward refuses calling him a "rotten father". Edward finds a solution and, using a pipe from the ground, draws out a human transmutation circle. He claps his hands together to perform his last transmutation and goes to the gate finding Alphonse, body and all, there waiting for him. He's asked by Truth what he plans on sacrificing this time and responds that he wants to sacrifice his ability to perform alchemy in order to bring back Alphonse. It accepts and Ed destroys his alchemic door and takes Al with him back through the "exit". Alphonse awakes finding himself looking up at Edward, his father, and all his friend's smiling faces as they welcome him back.

At the finale, Roy Mustang is found in the hospital with all his comrades with him assisting him on his new path to helping the Ishvalan community. Doctor Marcoh asks if he can use his last Philosopher's Stone, which he created using Ishvalan lives, to regain his eyesight in order to rebuild Ishval. Roy accepts but insists they use it on Jean Havoc's paralyzed legs first.

Major Armstrong's older sister, Olivier spares Scar's life so that he is able to help Miles preserve their culture.

Fuhrer Bradley's now widowed wife raises Pride as Selim with the new Fuhrer Grumman saying he will be watching to make sure there are no abnormalities that occur as Selim grows. Van Hohenheim visits Trisha Elric's grave telling her that he is happy because Edward finally called him "father" even though he added "rotten" to it. He tells her that she and their sons have made his empty life a fulfilling one and he dies thanking her.

Ling Yao goes back to Xing with Lan Fan and May Chang telling her that as emperor he will protect her clan and all the others.

Edward and Alphonse return to Resembool where Winry Rockbell is waiting for them. When she first sees them, she cries tears of joy and runs towards them, jumping into their arms causing them to all to fall backwards as she happily welcomes them back.

Spoiler alert! The following takes place in Episodes 62-64 of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Two years later, Ed and Al are still living with the Rockbells. While there, they both discover a theory that while equivalent exchange requires that in order to gain something, something of equal value must be lost, for instance: in order to gain something, such as 10 of something, 11 would be received. So Alphonse decides to travel east to Xing to learn more about alkahestry from May Chang so that he may help prove their theory.

At the same time, Edward wants to travel west to see what knowledge there is to gain so that when he reunites with Alphonse, they can combine what they have learned so that what had happened to Nina and Alexander may not happen to anyone or anything else in the future.

When Edward is about to leave, he and Winry express their love for each other in the term of equivalent exchange with Ed saying that he is willing to give her half of his life in exchange for half of hers. Winry says his idea of equivalent exchange is stupid because she is willing to give him all of it. During the ending credits, there are pictures of all the character's and their outcomes along with a final picture of Edward, Alphonse, Winry, May Chang, Pininya, and Winry's automail shop boss posing and smiling while Ed and Winry are holding two children.

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT! dont read if you want to watch the series yourself! this will be just fullmetal alchemist, not brotherhood. ok, so theres these two brothers (edward and alphonse) who attempt to bring their mother back to life with alchemy, but instead of bringing back their mother, edward loses his left leg, and alphonse loses his entire body. edward then attaches alphonses soul to an 7 foot tall suit of armour, losing his right arm in the process. (INSERT BORING FILLER HERE). jumping to the end, edward gets killed, but alphonse brings him back using his own body. then edward brings back alphonse, and edward gets sent to 1938 (i think!). the movie, Fullmetal Alchemist and the Conqueror of Shamballa, does followup on the series. i would really recommmend watching the entire series, because this is just the very base. :) i really hope this helped!

in a place under central rose asks edward to dance in a ballroom.rose tells edward that she loves him ,he pulls away,greed gluttony and a weird girl comes out with alphonse in their grasps [when al is the philosphers stone] ,edward tries and get al back, he gets knocked out,his soul goes to a parallel world during one of the world wars in parralel world,edward is in another persons body he sees his father, goes with his father and edward's parallel world body dies he gets back to his own world he has just learned that every time you use alchemy a person dies in the parallel world for the energy used to do the alchemy,he has to fight a half brother as the thing said he was the so called half brother was greed in descise,greed stabs edward which proved fatal and edawrd dies then al pushes gluttony [who was eating the philosphers stone the whole time] off of him and says that's not how it goes and then he broght edawrd back to life in exchange for his life edawrd comes back and he cant find al so he brings back al and then his whole body goes to the parallel world [edward got back his arm and leg when al sacrifised his life for edward] then it goes into a scene where ed and al are both on a train looking out the of the window [eds in the parallel world ]where they both say we will be together again someday then it ends this is just a minor answer ,you should watch the episodes yourself.

Depending on what series of it your talking about if your talking about the original anime then Dante created all the hunouculis in search of being immortal because she transferred her soul to new body's and if she kept doing so she would die it is also revealed that hoinhiem (Eds father) and Dante were lovers before he met Eds mom and that the other side of the gate also known as "the truth" is an alternate reality where alchemy never existed and is loosely based on the events of real life and that for everytime alchemy is used in Eds world a part of a soul of a person from the alternate universe is taken away Ed dies and Al brings him back from the dead using the power of the philosopher stone and ironically Ed back alive kills Dante out of rage and kills him self again to bring Al back and with Al being alive tries to bring Ed to life again but is to late and Eds soul is going towards "the truth" which at this time we learn that every time someone dies they are born again into the opposite reality with no memory of the other reality and with this Ed( now in the reality without alchemy) tries to explain and use the

Concept of alchemy in the reality but finds it doesn't work and the

Story ends with Ed thinking of ways to get to Al without alchemy and it is continued by the first FMA movie
