Banner, the dark bay with the narrow stripe on his face was said to be Wayne's favorite due to his docile nature. Wayne was no lover of horses but he did appreciate a well-trained one. Banner made several pictures with Wayne (Angel And The Badman) during the late 1940s and early 1950s and was also ridden by other screen cowbows such as Andy Devine in old Roy Rogers westerns. Banner was owned by the Fat Jones Stables of Los Angeles, who also supplied the horses for TV's long-running western Bonanza and others. Banner passed on to 'greener pastures' in the mid 1990s of the wobbles. RIP Banner.
