He was originally Bear Bear until renamed in a competition. Perhaps he is Humphrey Bear Bear, or the B is to distinguish him from Disney's 1950 character Humphrey Bear.

Acctually the B stands for Barry. Previously, in 1953 when Walt Disney released the character Humphrey Bear, it was up for discussion that his name would rather be Barry Bear. The network decided to choose Humphrey so in the 21st century version, to honour Walt Disneys ideas, put it a B. for Barry.
