∙ 8y agoBe very careful when buying "discount" tickets. Walt Disney World (WDW) is on an automated ticket system that reads a magnetic strip on their printed tickets. You have no way of knowing if that ticket is unused or used when you purchase it outside of WDW or through their travel company until you get to the gates at the parks. They did offer a small AAA Auto Club discount, but not sure if they still do. Discounted tickets may also be available to military personnel too. Triple and quadruple check with an authorized agent at Disney BEFORE you purchase any tickets off property to see what discounts are honored for tickets.
I have many friends who worked at WDW and they had to turn away families that had spent most of their vacation money on so-called "discounted" tickets because they had been partially used or completely used. Some travel agents do offer a discounted rate, but be sure they are legitimate. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Besides if you do go through an agent, you might as well go through Disney Vacation Planning. You wouldn't save that much more on the tickets after the travel agent's fees and restrictions and WDW also offers dining plans if you also book accommodations with them. They also offer Magic Your Way tickets that have reduced prices the longer you stay.
From what I recall, there are not a whole lot of authorized discounts on tickets, so it shouldn't be a problem if you ask a Disney employee if you don't want to go through an agent. The WDW Tickets phone number is (407) 939-1289.
