We took my granddaughter to Disney World the month before she turned 2 and it was a wonderful trip. We only allowed four days for it. We rented a double stroller (her sister was 4) from an outside company that delivered it to our hotel. This allowed us to have it to wheel the children to and from the parks and buses. We didn't over plan. We made sure we were back in the room for her nap every day but one (and she did pretty well on that day). We went in January to minimize crowds and focused mostly on the Magic Kingdom. My son-in-law had never been there and there were a couple of things I wanted him to see in Epcot. One evening, while he and my daughter went on rides, I stayed with the girls and was amazed to see them jumping up and down on the pavement -- and the pavement lit up. They also loved JOURNEY INTO IMAGINATION with FIGMENT in Epcot and the jumping water fountains in front of it. I just watched the video from that time and they were hysterically laughing as the water jumped over their heads. We stayed in a Disney Vacation Club apartment which comes with a crib and high chair so we didn't have to haul that stuff along and had a full kitchen. The 4 year old was a little shy about meeting the characters until the last day. The 2 year old shrieked whenever any of them came toward her. When we had character meals, we just let the character know that she was too scared to meet them and they all honored that and didn't force themselves on her. They are a lot bigger than they are on TV. If you are staying on property, make sure you take advantage of the early opening hours. If your child wants to go on Dumbo, that will be the only time that you don't have to wait longer than 20 minutes to go on it. The picture of our 2 year old when she first climbed into Dumbo is just priceless. As the park starts to get crowded at 1 pm (if you go in the summer -- in January, it was NEVER crowded), leave the park and go back to the hotel to rest and swim. And the best part of bringing a 2 year old -- no admission for Disney and no fee for a separate meal if you choose the Dining Plan. A good website for more tips is www.allears.net. Have a blast!!
