The Ride Pokemon in Sun and Moon are as follows:

  • Tauros (Charge)--Gives you a way to break boulders (the roundish brown kind, not the large cubical white ones).
  • Stoutland (Search)--Gives you a way to sniff out hidden items.
  • Lapras (Paddle)--Lets you ride on the water and also access fishing spots that are far from land.
  • Charizard (Glide)--Basically the same thing as fly in previous games. Lets you travel by air to anyplace you have already been.
  • Mudsdale (Gallop)--Gives you a way to travel over rough rocks.
  • Sharpedo (Jet)--Lets you smash rocks in the water (again, only certain kinds)
  • Machamp (shove)--Machamp lets you push the big cubical white rocks to solve puzzles in order to access new areas.

You can assign four of these moves to use automatically with up, down, left, and right.
