There is no way to know for sure if Left Eye Lopez was HIV positive at the time of her death. There was speculation and rumor when TLC first came out in 1991, because she wore the condom over her Left Eye, and later because of her work with HIV / Safe Sex organizations and charities, along with the reference to HIV/AIDS the video for TLC song Waterfalls which Left Eye Lopez herself wrote. Additional speculation and rumor occurred after her death by car accident in Honduras. If she would have lived she would be 40 years old and within this age group, as many of her contemporaries within the black community are. AIDS is a very real, and *very deadly epidemic.
