Other than the coroner or a spiritual person no one will know for sure. The male characteristics are certainly evident. Older pictures of Bea Arthur appear to show a balding man under those wigs. The top surgery in Hollywood is gender transition so people should not be shocked. Also older pictures of Bea show a brow bone, only a male characteristic. One of the big surgeries is brow bone removal. Others are a square jaw bone, inset eyes with low overhanging eyebrows. The center of her eyebrows are where the hair line starts and is very low like in males but it is drawn above the brow line as they move outward. Females have much higher brows than males so unless the transitioned person shaves them off totally and then uses a brow brush to paint new ones on this is an obvious male feature. Others are three head shoulder width but again with Bea Arthur she frequently wears shoulder pads so this is hard to tell. I can’t find any bikini photos of Bea Arthur but the obvious male features such as most of the Victoria Secret models are the “adonis belt” which is the V muscle between the outer hips and pelvic area and also the high hip-bone in males that are almost horizontal to the belly button whereas in women this bone us anatomically much lower and lower from the belly button making an upside down V if drawn. Other male features hard to hide are index finger shorter than ring in 90%+ of males. Long arms down to thigh, large hands. She certainly has the low voice and large male structure. I really liked Bea Arthur either way portrayed. The only thing I don’t like is the baphomet deception that is said to be at the heart of gender inversion in media. There is much written about this gender inversion that many powerful families practice on their children.

I'm thinking she did, only that in those days they didn't tell. Even Lee Curtis looks more feminine than her. I loved Bea but in appearance yes she looked like a woman in drag. Being honest.
