I think he is.I've heard many Christian songs without the word 'Christ'.Maybe Don't give up You are loved refers Christ's love and I am sure You raise me up means that when you are in troubles God helps you.

He said on Larry King Live that he had campaigned for Al Gore when he was running for office. I suspect that he is a Democrat, but I can't truly state that for sure. Oh, well, still love him though.
