It all depends on what you call original. If it is one of the first printed series then it depends on which litho it is. This means that it dates back to late 18-hundreds and is part of the first series printed, for most works this was a series of hundred. Is it the finished litho or a single color setup which was used for placing the letters for the final print?

Anyway, first series lithos go for anything between 1000 $ to 300 000 $ and more.

More recent reproductions authenticated by the albi museum) go for far less depending on were you find one. Some second hand stores get one, you could do a bargain there. These will never cost the enormous amounts of money the originals fetch, but in an auction it often comes down to if the audience is interested and, more importantly, if more than one person wants it.

To sum it up.

For a first series the sky is the limit. If you come across a popular one for under 150 000$, don't hesitate.

For a recent reproduction anything from 500$ to 1000$ is the maximum. Unless you really want it of course. Because they aren't of much value as a collectors piece, but if you really like a work of art, having an authentic reproduction on the wall is always worth an effort. Right?

If something is on sale for 1600 which is a 20 percent discount what is the original price?

$2000 A 20% discount means that the item is sold at 80% of the original cost. You can then calculate the original cost using the equation: 0.8 * x = $1600 where x stands for the cost of the original item. Divide both sides by 0.8 and you get x = $2000.
