I do not know how many original copies of the 1887 Beeton's Christmas Annual including the first publication of 'A Study in Scarlet' sold, but my best guess would be around 30,000.

The link below reports there are only 31 known copies of that original publication in existence.

Did Sherlock Holmes returned after he was killed in his story?

There was a story where Sherlock went over the edge of Reichenbach Falls, called "The Final Problem" in the book The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. It was an attempt by Conan Doyle to eliminate the character, whom he had grown tired of. The public outcry was so great, that he brought him back through a clever plot line. You'll find his return in the story "The Adventure of the Empty House" in the book The Return of Sherlock Holmes.Conan Doyle had written a novel between "The Final Problem" and "The Adventure of the Empty House" called "The Hound of the Baskervilles". (published 1901-02) [worth reading] The plot was set before Holmes' death, so that Conan Doyle would not have to resurrect him. He asked (and got) twice as much per word from his publishers, Smith, Elder & Sons to put Holmes into the plot. The book sold so well that both the Strand Magazine and Colliers in the U.S. made Conan Doyle an offer he did not refuse to bring Holmes back from the 'dead' Thus 'The Return of Sherlock Holmes', 'The Valley of Fear', 'The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes' and 'His Last Bow'.

Did Sherlock Holmes have friends?

His brother, Mycroft. Sherlock Holmes had one brother. His name was Mycroft Holmes. He was smarter than Sherlock, but did not like moving around the way Sherlock always did. Sherlock Holmes's grandmother was the sister of the French painter, Vernet. Towards the beginning of 'The Adventure of the Norwood Builder' we find this passage: At the time of which I speak, Holmes had been back for some months, and I, at his request, had sold my practice and returned to share the old quarters in Baker Street. A young doctor, named Verner, had purchased my small Kensington practice, and given with astonishingly little demur the highest price that I ventured to ask - an incident which only explained itself some years later, when I found that Verner was a distant relation of Holmes', and that it was my friend who had really found the money.
