To evolve a Clampearl into either one of the two possibilities, a special item must be equiped to it and the Clampearl traded. To evolve it into a Huntail, a Deepsea Tooth is needed. To evolve it into a Gorebyss, a Deepsea Scale is needed. One of the two items can be obtained in Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire as a reward from Captain Stern in Slateport City.
