The same happened to my brothers game- You need a new game, NOT a new Game Boy. You need a new cartridge. If that does not work, which is very, very, very rare, you need to try the game with a different GBA. If you have a Brother/Sister/Cousin/Friend that has a GBA, ask them if you can test out their GBA. :) Also, if this question is for someone using an emulator (I.E. Visualboy Advance), there is no working fix for Pokemon fire red as of yet.
