You probably are talking about Rage which is a circle thing that makes random movements and is yellow, red, and blue in color. Walk into that and you go into Rage mode and you will flash red and become stronger for 25 seconds. If you want to do a Rage attack, you press X and O(for PS2) or A and B(for Xbox) at the same time, and you shall do a devasating attack. If you do a Rage attack, your Rage mode will stop automatically. You don't go into Rage mode if you're Mothra. Mothra just gets health and energy power ups from it (including Mothra larva).

There is also the special you only have to hold the R1 button down until it's charged then your character will release either a beam or a scream(for Angerus). You can also do a short bust special attack which involves just tapping the R1 button.
