I'm afraid I have no cite, but I have a very strong memory of an old Tarzan movie, probably from the 1930's or 1940's, perhaps with Johnny Weissmuller, where the tribes were definitely speaking in Irish. This was on TV on a Saturday morning in Ireland, probably in the early 1980's.
