Lisa Lopes was charged with arson in the 1995 fire of her then boyfriend Andre Rison's Atlanta Mansion. She frequently traveled to Honduras which she named "The Bush" and started going through spiritual healing with Dr. Sebi. She adopted a young child from Honduras named Snow and took her back to Atlanta to live with her for a short time. She also was starting a kid's camp and daycare for the many orphaned and poor children of Honduras. She started her own production company called Left Eye productions to which she signed the group Blaque, and then signed a group she was putting together named Egypt. She also started a foundation but didn't get finished with the process called the Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes Foundation. She had a recording studio that she was in the process of designing into a professional studio where she could go and work on solo cuts minus T Boz and Chilli. The studio has now been designed and is part of Left Eye Productions.
In my opinion yes. She lost it when she became interested in that numerology bs then got involved with yoga and all that crap. Thats why she went to Honduras for "enlightenment" or whatever and to build a school on property she owned. If you watch The Last Days of Left Eye you can see that she was just going overboard with that numerology and spiritual stuff. Then she became paranoid thinking a "spirit" was following her whatever that means. So i believe she was not in her right mind especially towards the end of her life its sad really. RIP Left Eye
There is no way to know for sure if Left Eye Lopez was HIV positive at the time of her death.
There was speculation and rumor when TLC first came out in 1991, because she wore the condom over her Left Eye, and later because of her work with HIV / Safe Sex organizations and charities, along with the reference to HIV/AIDS the video for TLC song Waterfalls which Left Eye Lopez herself wrote.
Additional speculation and rumor occurred after her death by car accident in Honduras. This was due primarily because the doctor she went to Central America to visit Dr. Sebi is known for his unsubstantiated claims that he has the 'cure' for AIDS.
In addition, the sheer fact that AIDS is the number one killer African-Americans ages 19 to 44 in the United States, in and of itself may cause speculation, and fuel curiosity. If she would have lived she would be 40 years old and within this age group, as many of her contemporaries within the black community are. AIDS is a very real, and *very deadly epidemic.
*Please, it does not have to be! In her honor, go beyond curiosity, get tested, be safe. Lisa Left Eye Lopez would want that, yes she died of injuries sustained during a car accident, but, ardently worked toward HIV prevention and awareness. Do it for her, do it for yourself! Today there is treatment and many people live long and healthy lives, most people on treatment die WITH HIV, not FROM HIV!(please don't edit this out, use it as an opportunity, thank you)
