After any outstanding bills and taxes (Wayne always paid his taxes) the bulk of his estate was divided between his 7 children. I believe there was provisions made for the grandchildren, which at the time of his death in 1979 there were over 20. His widow Pilar, whom he was separated from, was already provided for upon the separation agreement. I believe he also gave the hospital where he died a generous amount so there is now a John Wayne Wing for cancer patients. Shortly before his death he sold his boat The Wild Goose and his cattle ranch in Arizona.
