The same thing happened to me. One easy thing you can do, especially if you already saved, is this. Open the cheat window using Control+Shift+C and type in "moveobjects on" and press enter. Then go to buy mode, click the hot tub with the frozen sims in it and delete it. Then click on your frozen sim's photo in the panel and they should re-appear and be working just fine. If this doesn't work, you can always not save and try playing the family again.
