The red ring of death represents hardware falure. contact xbox if you see any red lights on your xbox. they are all bad. if you see 3 red flashing lights, that is the red ring of death.

it had a messup in the disc reader and if you turned the console it would burn a deep ring thus ruining your disc, they changed that in 3rd yr. xbox's

not really but i would not use the kid toothpastes. Colgate or similar would be fine. Also the ring (halo ring) means the disk is broken so you cant use it you have to be careful dont move your xbox with a disk inside
