they're called goombas
Goombas. In case you ask, the enemy "turtles" or shelled creatures are called koopas.
If you are Yoshi, you swallow the Goombas and spit them back at him. If you are any other character, you punch them back at him.
to get to the island in dimble woods you need to walk up to the rock wiggler which you use to destroy the walls that block your path. press x then you should power up bowsers muscle too make a bridge then you can punch it to free them! VICTORY!
I assume this from Super Mario DS. If so, as Yoshi, run around the stump while King Goomba is chasing you. Behind him are a couple of his Goomba henchman. Swallow one and turn it into an egg. Then, get close enough behind the group and shoot. The egg should automatically home in on the Goombas and nail King Goomba in the back. Do this three times to defeat him.

There is no Dark Goombas in the flipside pit of 100 trials, however the dark Goombas are located in the flopside pit of 100 trials.

They are still Goombas. The only difference between them and the regular Goombas is that the shorties drop coins whether you spin them or stomp them. Also, instead of just getting dazed from getting spinned like regulars, they immediatly die if you spin them. Also they are slightly duller in color.

Run fast and defeat al of the mini goombas following King Goomba. After you defeat the first of them, more goombas will appear. Keep doing this and then finally King Goomba will run out of mini goombas! Then he will give up and give you a power star! And then you get another star! Good luck!
