Red is basically the game's Ash, and Blue is basically Gary, except Red actually starts with a starter instead of Pikachu. In Pokemon Gold and Silver, or/and Heart Gold and Soul Silver, you can fight him with Gold, Johto's hero, or the girl character if you have HG or SS. But basically, your character is named after the game's name you are playing. How creative, huh?
