There are three fossils total: the Helix Fossil which becomes Omanyte, the Dome Fossil which becomes Kabutops, and the Old Amber which becomes Aerodactyl. You can obtain the Old Amber from the Pewter Museum once you can use Cut outside battle, but you are offered a choice between the other two fossils near the end of Mt. Moon; whichever one you do not pick, you will not be able to obtain during that gameplay.
