If you want to get technical, Nintendo is the best. They have the best exclusives, the most sales compared to other console producing companies, and they made the first gaming handeheld in history ( the Game & Watch ) and they are currently the most influential and innovative game company so far.
According to IGN, the best game console ever is the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). According to most people, either Super Mario or Legend of Zelda is the best game ever, while other (ignorant) people say Call of Duty, Halo, or Battlefield is the best game ever.
And now for my final point: In the early 80's, a dark time in gaming history happened. The Great Videogame Crash of 1983, killed gaming in the world (except Japan. Gaming was still very popular then). Gaming as we know it died for 2 whole years. Hopes weren't exactly high. This was a prosperous age for PC gaming however. Then, out of the blue, Nintendo ( whom very few people knew about at the time ) released the NES in 1985, and single handedly saved gaming. Without NES, the Xbox wouldn't even exist, and the Playstation WOULD exist, but wouldn't have been released in America or Europe.
So yes. Nintendo is technically best.
And no. I am not a fanboy. I own a PS2, PS3, Sega Dreamcast, and Xbox 360 as well as multiple Nintendo consoles.

The most powerful game system right now, in terms of the best hardware, is the PS3.
Most console parts are made in china, then shipped to where ever there is a factory for the company and built there. Then it is delivered to the company's store and sold.
The original Sega Dreamcast video game console was first released in November of 1998. PC Magazine has chosen the Sega Dreamcast video game console as the best ever.
Currently, the highest rated video game console of the year 2013 is Xbox 360 with a rating of 9.73/10. Nintendo Wii is rated second best, and Playstation 3 is ranked third.
