Keep it in a place where it can " breathe " so not in a small area like a box cuz it wont breathe and can over heat then it will get the yellow light of death. Keep it in a place with a lot of space for it to breathe

While that may be the best place it is fine and OK to keep your PS3 slim in cabinetry for electrical devices under your TV. Most people do, just like the cable boxes, DVD/VCR, DVR, and Home Theaters which is also not the "Best" place for those devices. They are still adequate and fine for the newer slim PS3 that uses less power. Overheating was more of a problem for the first PS3 consoles whose large power consumption caused overheating
