Okay, so you can wait until Lucas' or Dawn's Sister tells you something about seeing a Magnemite and The Ironworks. But there's not always a chance she'll mention something about that certain pokemon. So I suggest going on Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald ( that is if you have one ) and catching a magnemite in New Mauville. They are around level 22-26 I think. Then you can Migrate them Over to Diamond Or Pearl.
Also Magnemite evolves at Level 30. At level 25/26 It can learn Lock-On, then at Level 30 It can learn Magnet Bomb. If you go into Mt Coronet, level your magneton up, it will evolve into Magnezone.
