Aerodactyl cannot be found in the wild, but you can obtain it in Pokemon HG and SS by going to the Ancient Ruins in Johto. Bring a Pokemon that knows Rock Smash with you. Find some rugged rocks and use Rock Smash on them. Once you obtain an Old Amber in the rubble, bring it to the museum in Pewter City, in Kanto. Bring it to the man in front of the computer and come back for it later so he can extract it for you. When you come back he'll have an awesome Aerodactyl waiting for you!
You get an Aerodactyl by resurrecting it from the "old amber" item you can find, rarely, by crushing rocks in the Ruins of Alph. The lab that resurrects fossils is in Pewter City.
