Generally depends on the progress of your game, genre and content / demand.

Steam allows for potential developers to advertise and distribute, or if you are needing funding to set up your games then Kickstarter is a good place to get that together.

Or you might find it'd be a good idea to set up your own site and produce / distribute yourself.

All in all, I think your best bet it to contact Steam and see what they can do for you plus to increase awareness, perhaps contacting Rock, Paper, Shotgun and saying something along the lines of you producing a game and would they care to take a look, comment and review. Just make sure you have yourself a demo for those though.
