yes you do. They tell you the category and then you have to make your choice.
Yes, Wikianswers has a firearms category. Next time, before you ask a question about whether or not there is a certain category, check first. It can be as simple as browsing unanswered questions.
When you ask a question, you need to put it in its right category. For example, this question you are asking is under "Dodge Caravan" but it needs to be under "Questions about WikiAnswers". Questions in wrong categories are moved to the correct category by a supervisor or a contributer answering the question. If you remember what the question was about, try to think what category it might have been moved to and seek there. If you still can't find it, ask it again, but this time put it in its correct category (or ad it to your Watch List) so you can find it easily. I will be moving this question from "Dodge Caravan" to "Questions about WikiAnswers" soon, so I hope you get the answer to this question before it is moved.
There are already a number of Jeopardy questions whose response concerned the events before after and during earthquakes even if the category was not earthquakes they are still good questions.
Sometimes it takes a while before someone comes across your question. There are over 6000 categories, and who knows how many questions are in each category. Make sure you list your question under the best category/categories for it, that helps. You can chose up to 3 categories.
It can be almost immediate or it can take a very long time, it depends on when someone get around to your question, or how popular the category is. There are a lot of questions out there. I still have an unanswered question from Sept. 29.
1. Did you sign in before asking the question? 2. Do you remember which category you placed the question in? 3. Go to "My questions" in 'My profile" and see if your question is there? (Sign in first.) If it is not then you may not have sent it or signed in. Hope find what you are looking for.
Hurricane Sandy briefly reached category 3 intensity before hitting Cuba. It had weakened to a category 1 before hitting the U.S.
The question you put in the WikiAnswes box is the one you want to know the answer to. Use the question guidelines and post it in the proper Category (or Categories), and a Contributor will (hopefully) get to it before too much time passes.
As with any subject a certain number of questions need to be asked before it become a category or subcategory. Otherwise every question would have its own. If you feel there have been enough questions asked about a specific subject you can make a request to have it categorized.
It could be because the question is too difficult to answer right away, or that it's simply placed in a wrong category. Some questions may need a lot of searching before it gets answered. Another good idea is to make sure your question is placed in the correct category. That way someone who knows the answer can find it. It may also be worth wile to try different wordings before you ask your question. It may be that your question has already been answered of asked before. See the related link below for more tips about asking questions.
