When did Sonic the Hedehog ever have five fingers?

Since always, I just looked back in the first ever comic and yes, he had five fingers.

The only time that Sonic had four fingers was perhaps when the artist made a mistake. But right now I cannot find any picture with Sonic the Hedgehog with 'four' fingers.

Then again, it really depends where you saw Sonic with four fingers...
