The "error loading ini settings" message in your overworld sprite editor typically indicates that the program cannot find or read the configuration file it relies on to function properly. This could be due to the file being missing, corrupted, or incorrectly formatted. Additionally, it may occur if the editor is not compatible with the game's version or if there are permission issues preventing access to the file. To resolve this, check for the presence and correctness of the ini file, and ensure that you have the necessary permissions to access the directory.
This is an unclear question, since Unix systems do not have password protected subdirectories. The 'vi' editor is either granted permission to edit a resource or denied, based on permissions (and not passwords).
xml is effectively plain text and you can delete passwords using any text editor or even a dedicated xml editor.
